Contemporary media landscape is how media is used and perceived in the modern day, this links to areas such as technology that allows us to view media and technology that allows us to create media. There are 5 key aspects of contemporary media landscape that have changed dramatically over time, these are; social networking, filming equipment, editing software, viewing platforms and advertising. Social networking has changed the face of media as now media can be viewed, rated, advertised and debated about on social networking, it has hugely increased the size of the industry as a whole. New filming equipment has enabled media to be filmed and portrayed at a lot higher quality and even 3D, this has had to be done to fit in with the increasing size of the market. Also the editing software that has been created to enable a shot to be completely has also needed to improve with the growth of the market. The ways in which media is viewed is a lot wider as now there is the cinema, laptop, smart TV, phone, tablet and much more, films and TV can be directly streamed onto these devices instead of the traditional TV or cinema. Advertising has also changed hugely to fit with the market, as they have to use ways such as social networking in order to reach the target audience that they are aiming for. As we are an Independent Film Company, the aspect of the Contemporary Media Landscape that will help and affect us most is the social networking, this is because this is how will release our short film, advertise our short film and how the short film will be viewed by the audiences. It is the only platform we have, as we cannot afford to pay any other companies to advertise our film or show our short film, the social networking websites that we will be using are, Facebook, Twitter, Vimeo and Youtube.
